The world is in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic. WHO and Partners are working together on the responses like tracking the pandemic, advising on critical interventions and distributing vital medical supplies. They are racing to develop and deploy safe and effective vaccines.

Vaccine:

Vaccines work by training and preparing the body’s natural defences, the immune system to recognize and fight off the viruses and bacteria they target. On being exposed to those disease-causing germs later, the body is immediately ready to destroy them. Thus they play a vital role in preventing illness.

Vaccination for Coronavirus:

Getting vaccinated is one of many steps you can take to protect yourself and others from Corona Virus.

Some people may be concerned about getting vaccinated now that COVID-19 vaccines are available in India. While COVID-19 vaccines are being developed as quickly as possible, routine processes and procedures remain in place to ensure the safety of any vaccine that is authorized or approved for use. Safety is a top priority, and there are many reasons to get vaccinated.

In the meanwhile, to protect yourself and others, follow these recommendations:

  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from others
  • Avoid crowds
  • Avoid poorly ventilated spaces
  • Wash your hands often

The combination of getting vaccinated and following the above mentioned recommendations to protect yourself and others will offer the best protection from COVID-19.
